Rausing the rear of the hood lets air in. Not out. It does lower underhood air temperatures, but at the cost of higher coolant temperature. Keep in mind that your engine is water cooled.

We beat the car up on track at 30 minutes at a time several times per day...we put the cooler in as insurance. On a dedicated track car, you can't really have too much cooling ;)
